Our Story

Everyone Out is a not for profit social enterprise founded to get more kiwi kids outside in nature.

Everyone Out - a not for profit social enterprise.

Everyone Out Limited was founded by Rachel Prier in 2016 with a mission to connect tamariki and their whānau with Wellington’s stunning natural spaces. Since then, Rachel and her husband James have hosted events across the Wellington region, in places like the Otari-Wilton’s Bush, Mount Victoria, Queen Elizabeth Park, and many more. Their goal is to inspire families to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty of our green spaces together.

In October 2018, Everyone Out launched its first holiday programme in Crofton Downs, offering tamariki the chance to experience nature play. The programme quickly gained popularity, with positive feedback from both parents and children.

Building on this success, Rachel expanded in January 2020 by hiring experienced kaiako and opening the Everyone Out Nature School in Crofton Downs. As the business grew, a second location was established in Island Bay in 2021, offering both holiday programmes and nature school sessions. Everyone Out continues to grew and expand, in 2025 Rachel expanded into the Hutt. Offering these unique programmes in three locations in the Wellington region.

Everyone Out also supports schools with their Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) programs, hosting school groups at our locations to engage in outdoor learning experiences.

Everyone Out remains committed to fostering a love of the outdoors, helping tamariki build confidence, curiosity, and a lasting connection with nature.

Meet the team

Rachel - Founder and Programme Manager

Rachel is an adventurous mum of three and the heart behind Everyone Out. She founded the programme to bring more tamariki into the outdoors. Giving them the time, space, and freedom to play, explore, and discover just how fun nature can be. With a background in engineering, education and a knack for organisation, Rachel is a self-confessed pencil pusher and box ticker with the skills every great programme needs. She especially enjoys being on session with tamariki when there’s hands-on science to investigate.

Mina - Kaiako (Teacher)

Mina has been part of Everyone Out since 2020, when she launched our Island Bay location. A trained primary teacher and qualified Forest School leader, she also brings experience from early childhood education and a deep love for the outdoors. Whether she's out in the bush or up in the mountains for days on end, nature is where Mina feels most at home. She’s passionate about helping tamariki build self-confidence, curiosity, and a strong connection to the natural world. Mina is currently part of our Wednesday and Thursday teams at Nature School in Island Bay.

Anne - Holiday Programme Lead Kaiako

Anne has been with Everyone Out since the very beginning, leading our first holiday programme at Huntleigh in 2018. With years of experience and a strong belief in child-led learning, she brings wisdom, creativity, and care to every session. A former Playcentre mum (with Helena, the messy play expert!), Anne loves seeing tamariki explore freely and follow their own interests. Now based in Nelson, she returns each school holidays to lead our Wilton Holiday Programme.

Jodi- Kaiako (Teacher)

Jodi joined the Island Bay Thursday team in May 2024, bringing her creativity and passion for hands-on learning. A trained high school art teacher and Playcentre mum, her home is a treasure trove of cardboard boxes, craft supplies, and odds and ends ready for tamariki to transform into imaginative creations. Her favourite place? Ōwhiro Bay, searching rock pools and watching for dolphins.

Tim - Kaiako (Teacher)

Tim has joined our Thursday team at Nature School at Wilton Park in Term 1 2025. He’s our energetic, playful, nature-loving Kaiako, with a diverse background in teaching, caring, and supporting tamariki. Tim is a qualified teacher with a passion for NZSL and environmental education.  Huts and shelters are definitely his Nature School specialty.

Erin - Kaiako (Teacher)

Since 2022, Erin has taken a day each week away from her classroom teaching role to be part of the Island Bay team on Wednesdays. She brings a deep passion for the outdoors and a strong belief in the power of nature-based learning. Erin loves seeing the spark in tamariki as they explore, discover, and grow confidence in the natural world.

Renata - Kaiako (Teacher) Assistant and
Holiday Programme Lead Kaiako

Renata has been a lead educator at our holiday programmes for a few years now and in 2022 starting working at Nature School as a kaiako assistant. She has a background in early childhood teaching, nannying and special education. Renata loves to travel and explore new places. She is a keen forager and can make almost anything from scratch.

Charlotte - Kaiako (Teacher)

Charlotte has a rich background in art and design, teaching, play work, and her own creative practice as an artist. She loves blustery walks, imaginative play, and working alongside others to uncover the magic within each person. Known for her thoughtful listening and strong sense of empathy, Charlotte brings a calm, creative presence to the team. She began in 2022 as an assistant with the Tuesday team and stepped into a kaiako role in 2023.
